monologue\worship/conversations

monologue\worship/conversations is an intuitive abstract ongoing series—made daily in prayer and creative surrender on a 30-meter long roll of thin, humble, nothing-fancy children’s art paper.

How the series began

Heeding the urge to be liberated from the polite constraints of regular-sized watercolour paper, I bought a 30 meters roll of paper. Thin. Inexpensive. It’ll-cry-if-you-drench-it kind of children’s art paper. And I let it rip.
Not the paper, but my art-making.

This series is the result of:
listening more to my true self than following the norm,
feeling more than forcing an output,
making art as an act of worship.
And—to break from my self-imposed confines of making pretty, traditional art.

Every day, after (or as part of) my devotional time with the Lord, I unroll the paper. I draw a slow breath. Pause. And pick up whatever tool calls to me—sometimes a compressed lead pencil, marker, sometimes a coloured pencil, sometimes a brush, sometimes my fingers.
I let go.

The creative process

Intuitive. Abstract. Expressive. Meditative. Ongoing. Unconventional.
I make spontaneous marks, responding emotionally and spiritually in the moment, working from inner feeling rather than outer references. Letting one stroke lead to the next. Letting forms or composition emerge instead of controlling it.  Until the piece feels completed.

What shows up:
Fluid lines, layers, unexpected forms.
A sense of honesty, vulnerability, rawness, and intrigue.

What started as a WhatsApp conversation to a fellow artist—became this living, unrolling conversation with myself and with God.

Fim

At the time of writing, I am at the end of that 30-meter roll.

Follow the conversations...

I’ll be sharing glimpses of this journey here on my blog.
If you want to follow along, bookmark this page and follow Sunday Studio to receive my emails.

What is Sunday Studio? Every Sunday, you’ll get to ‘step’ into my studio-my world. See some of the things I’m making—finished artwork, sketches, incomplete work which won’t see the daylight on social media. Sometimes, I’ll share bits of my artist life. You’ll also be the first to know when I release new work. And perks.
