As my attention drifts into too many directions and I ponder on the uncertainties of life, I'm reminded to breathe.
The prophet Isaiah writes, ‘You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast [or as an older translation puts it, ‘if our minds are stayed on thee’] because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal’ (26:3–4). This is the secret of perfect peace. It comes from trust in the Lord, in spite of the trials and temptations. There is so much that I could worry about. I am going to make a list of the things that first come to mind, and then give them over to God and try to bask in that ‘perfect peace’.
